Kenneth LaPensee - Health Economics and Market Access Expert
An accomplished health economics and outcomes research professional, Kenneth LaPensee has worked across pharmaceutical research, market access, reimbursement support, and healthcare economic modeling. Kenneth LaPensee has experience developing evidence from clinical trials, healthcare registries, health insurance claims, medical records database analysis, and economic models to support product value assessments for health systems, payers, and pharmaceutical companies.
Dr. LaPensee is the director of health economics and outcomes research for Paratek Pharmaceuticals, where he supports value messages and cost calculations for hospital-administered antibiotics used in acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections and community-acquired bacterial pneumonia. Dr. LaPensee also publishes peer-reviewed articles explaining economic models related to cost effectiveness and budget impact. Since 2014, he has served as principal and owner of Skylands Healthcare Consulting LLC, where he advises pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies on studies, pricing, reimbursement, market access barriers, and evidence used to support product coverage.
Dr. LaPensee earned his PhD from the University of Connecticut, where he studied anthropology, social science, and health services, and received a university fellowship and NIMH doctoral research grant. He later studied epidemiology and quantitative methods at Rutgers School of Public Health and completed a U.S. Public Health Service internship. His earlier roles include director of health economics and outcomes research with Forest Research Institute and senior director at The Medicines Company. Outside his work, Dr. LaPensee has interests that include hiking, wine collecting, writing fiction and nonfiction, travel, landscaping, fine arts museums, classical music concerts, and volleyball.
